Organisation Studies

Leerdoel

The master in Organisation Studies provides you with a critical understanding of organisational behaviour ant its theoretical is especially focused on organisational complexity and dynamics. It is designed fot those seeking a sound theoretical basis in organisation studies, a deeper level of understanding about how organisations deal with complexity and dynamics and an advanced level study that will generate transferable skills and facilitate employment in a great variety of organisations. In the master�s programma there are two central organisational concepts: complexity and dynamics. Complexity is assumed to be one of the key contemporary organisational issues. Individuals, groups, organisations and networks are embedded in complex webs of interdependent relations which can be of social, institutional or economic character. Dealing with complex relations in a correct manner is crucial for organisations and cooperations to function well. The concept of dynamics refers to environmental changes that influence the choice of organising processes and organisational form and strategies. How organisations deal with these dynamic changes has a considerable influence on the way they function. Therefore the central question is how organisations can handle these complexities and dynamics within the organisation and organisational networks.

The programme provides advanced �state-of-the-art� theoretical and practical knowledge and a deeper level of understanding for those seeking employment in diverse organisational situations.

The one-year master's programme has a total of 60 ECTS. Teaching involves a combination of lectures, seminars and group work.

Toelatingseisen

Ben je een afgestudeerde van de FSW bachelor Organisatiewetenschappen?
Ben je een afgestudeerde van de bachelor Organisatiewetenschappen binnen FSW dan word je zonder aanvullende eisen toegelaten tot deze master.

Heb je een van de andere FSW bachelors afgerond?
Hen je een van de andere FSW bachelors afgerond, dan moet je de minor Organisatiewetenschappen in je bachelorpakket hebben gekozen. Bekijk de vakken van de minor Organisatiewetenschappen in de elektronische studiegids.

Heb je een bachelordiploma van een andere universiteit?
Heb je een bachelordiploma van een andere universitaire opleiding dan moet je een aanvraag indienen bij de Examencommissie van de Faculteit. De criteria die de Examencommissie hanteert zijn globaal:

• Voldoende sociaalwetenschappelijke kennis
• Voldoende kennis van methoden en technieken
• Kennis van de bachelorvakken die deel uitmaken van de aansluitende minor.

Studenten van gelijkwaardige opleidingen moeten wel een aanvraag indienen maar zullen over het algemeen zonder aanvullende eisen worden toegelaten. Voor afgestudeerden van de bachelor Business Studies (FEW) geldt dat zij zich wel via de Examencommissie moeten aanmelden, maar zonder aanvullende eisen worden toegelaten.

Heb je het bij deze master behorende schakelprogramma gevolgd?
Schakelstudenten die voldoen aan de toelatingeisen van de aansluitende Master (te weten maximaal 12 ECTS open staan aan studiepunten waarvan maximaal 1 MTO vak) moeten schriftelijk toelating tot de Masterfase aanvragen bij de Examencommissie van de Faculteit Sociale Wetenschappen, Postbus 90153, 5000 LE Tilburg ( of deze toelatingsverzoeken inleveren bij de balie van het Onderwijsinstituut in P 306).
De Examencommissie beoordeelt de verzoeken tot toelating conform bovenvermelde eis en stuurt na een positief oordeel een schriftelijke bevestiging van de toelating aan de student. Een kopie van deze brief wordt tevens gestuurd naar de dienst die de inschrijvingen verzorgt (DEA). Deze dienst stuurt vervolgens een inschrijvingspakket voor de Masteropleiding naar de student. Het is dus voor schakelstudenten alleen mogelijk om via deze procedure als Masterstudent ingeschreven te worden!

Beroepsperspectief en arbeidsmarkt

Students who graduate in Organisation Studies at Tilburg University have good career opportunities. In a society where changes follow changes ever more rapidly, organisations need people who have a profound knowledge and understanding about organisations and organising, and who can research and analyse problems in organisations and the way these problems are interrelated. Apart from management positions in business and (semi)public organisations, there are also excellent job opportunities in consultancy and research. The programme trains people for positions like policy advisor, policy researcher, management consultant, project worker, personnel manager (human resources manager), organisation advisor, management trainee and quality project manager.
